About The Conference
BDNY (Boutique Design New York) is North America’s leading trade fair and conference for hospitality design, held each November at the Javits Center. Thousands of designers, architects, hoteliers, and industry leaders converge for three days of vendor showcases, design education, and conversations about where the boutique aesthetic is heading. Increasingly, senior living operators and design teams are in the room because the line between hospitality and senior living design keeps getting thinner.
Design isn’t a cosmetic conversation anymore. The operators we’re working with are asking the same questions BDNY tends to put front and center: How do we create environments that feel like the boutique hotels our residents’ families are staying in? Which materials, finishes, and layouts hold up in senior living operations without losing their design intent? Where should we invest in FF&E to actually move occupancy and length of stay?
Michelle Clark and I will both be walking the show this year. A few specific things we’ll be tracking: how vendors are adapting hospitality-grade products for senior living durability standards, which boutique design trends are ready to translate into repositioning projects, and where the Austera design team can source materials and partners we haven’t worked with yet.
